General introduction Shanghai Electric Machinery Co., Ltd.abb. As SEMS began to develop cyclocnverter-fed synchronous motors of overhanging type for mine hoists in early 1990s and at meanwhile induced modern design and process technology through cooperation with international leading motor manufacturers. Up to now, SEMC has produced several pieces of the said motors and achieved good results in operation, on base of which a whole series of the cycloconverter-fed synchronous motors for mine hoists has been developed in response to the technology for variable frequency device abb, as cycloconverter-fed. Compared to DC motors, cyclocnverter-fed synchronous motors have good perance in speed regulation and also large capacity of overload without limit in commutation, the largest torque output is always possible within the whole speed range, This type of motors can also save on electricity because the efficiency is 3-5 higher than that of DC motors. Featuring low moment of inertia, light weight, simple structure, high reliability and good convenience for installation and maintenance, the motor is an ideal driving equipment for mine hoists with good technical and economical specifications. The motor has a mounting type IM5710 and there are three s of connection between motors and hoists as below. aUsing contical bushing for interferencefit connection, assembled or disassembled by means of pressurized oil. bUsing clamp plates with fitted bolts connection. cUsing clamp plates with high-strength bolt friction connection. 2Type of CoolingIC37 Forced ventilation along axial direction is adopted to main body of the motor with the inlet and outlet on the lower part of the motor. 3Protection Degree for Main BodyIP44. Protection Degree for Slip RingIP21. 4motor windings are of class F insulation, undergoing vacuum pressure impregnatingVPI treatment with solvent less varnish, which gives insulation high moisture resistance, high electric capability, high mechanical strength and good heat conductibility. 512 leads of the stator come out of the motor bottom.. 6Stator and rotor cores of this series motor are piled up and pressed by means of laminations made of cool- milled silicon sheet steels of high magnetic conductibility.
